Welcome to The Owl and Elephant

The Owl and Elephant Lodge is a tranquil lodge where you can relax and rejuvenate away from the hustle and bustle of busy everyday life. Here you can experience the wonders of nature in a relaxed bush atmosphere. The Bushmans River is adjacent to the property and is a popular place for fishing and picnicking.

The Weenen Game Reserve is nearly on our doorstep, being only 5 km away. This well run game reserve offers extensive game-viewing facilities, guided walks and environmental education. More than 230 species of birds have been recorded and there are two hides overlooking a dam. Wildlife in the reserve includes rhino, giraffe, hyena, jackal, bushbuck, reedbuck, steenbuck, and porcupine.

Accommodation is offered in eight tastefully furnished and well-appointed en-suite rooms, each equipped with a TV and tea and coffee-making facilities. Although we are a bed and breakfast establishment, lunch and dinner can be provided by prior arrangement.

From comfortable rooms with good quality beds and linens, to the lovely views over the weenen valley from the lounge. The owner and hostess Daleen was excellent from time of enquiry to check out. Nothing was a bother or to much trouble. We really felt welcomed and at home and whenever we need something there was always a friendly smile to help. Breakfast and dinner was excellently done home style meals with fresh ingredients. There is a good bar/pub serving drinks at very reasonable rates.
